Diffusing essential oils can significantly impact your mood, make your environment smell
delightful, and bring you pockets of tranquility in an otherwise overwhelming and demanding
world. Many times, however, diffusing essential oils can seem daunting, as if you need
expensive tools and excessive amounts of time on your hands to diffuse the “right” way. Even
so, you’ll be happy to learn that this is simply NOT the case. Many household items can double as easy and effective essential oil diffusers! Below is a list of 10 everyday items that can be used to diffuse your oils.
- Cotton Balls
Add a couple drops of your desired oil to a cotton ball (or tissue if you do not have cotton
balls). Since the cotton ball is easily concealed, this homemade diffuser is perfect for placing
in inconspicuous spaces. Just hide the cotton ball around your home, car, or office and see
how quickly your surroundings become diffused. When the cotton ball no longer releases
the desired scent, simply redo the process. Add oils to multiple cotton balls to double or
even triple the diffusion in your space.
- Toilet Paper Roll
Use your toilet paper roll as your own personal bathroom diffuser. Add a couple drops of
your favorite essential oil to the inside of your toilet paper roll, place on the toilet paper
holder, and wait as your bathroom becomes spa-like. Pro tip: This diffusing trick applies to
paper towel rolls as well!
- Wine Corks Do you have leftover wine corks lying around? Use them as mini diffusers! Simply put a few drops of oil on the cork and allow it a few minutes to set in. Take this cork wherever you’d like to experience aromatherapy. We love adding these aroma-corks to the car, dresser drawers, pockets, suitcases, backpacks, and desk drawers!
- Bath Salts
Further transform your bathroom into a spa by diffusing essential oils through your very
own DIY bath salts. All you need is some Epsom salts, baking soda, and your favorite
essential oils. Mix three parts Epsom salts with one-part baking soda and add a few drops of
your desired essential oil. Use a cup or two in your hot bath and truly feel the beneficial
effects of essential oils. Save the rest of your salts in a dry place for your next bath!
- Carpet Deodorizer – Baking Soda
Speaking of baking soda, in a container, add about 30 drops of your favorite essential oil to
a cup of baking soda. Shake the mixture until thoroughly combined, and voila, your very
own baking soda diffuser! Sprinkle the mixture over your carpet, let sit for 10-20 minutes,
and vacuum up as usual. Your whole space will smell great!
- Savhera Jewelry
What you wear can even serve as your own personal diffuser. Savhera offers a range of
diffusible jewelry, from hoops to pendant necklaces, so you can express yourself while
breathing in moments of peace. Add a drop of your favorite oil to the clay part of the item
and wear as normal.
- Savhera Keychains
Jewelry not really your thing? Not to worry, Savhera also has keychain diffusers perfect for
your backpack, purse, or keys! Again, just add a drop of your desired oil onto the clay part of
the keychain to diffuse essential oil from wherever you are.
Fill an entire room with the luscious aromas of essential oils with your stove. To a half-full
pot of water, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil and place the pot on the stove
over medium-low heat. Make sure the water doesn’t begin to boil and start to breathe in
the diffused scent.
- Electric Wax Warmer
Turn your electric wax warmer into the perfect diffuser. Not only is this a simple way to
diffuse your favorite essential oil, but you don’t have to worry about harmful chemicals
found in traditional wax melts. Remove any wax from the warmer and fill the plate halfway
with water. Add a few drops of your desired essential oil, turn on, and enjoy!!
- YOUR HANDS!
Such an easy but often overlooked diffuser! Place a couple drops of essential oil in your
hands, rub them together, cup over your nose, and breathe in. It only takes a minute or two
and yet can instantly transform your whole day.
