Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894 to celebrate American workers’ contributions and achievements.
But it was birthed out of protest. In the late 19th century working conditions were dangerous and dehumanizing. Adults and children often worked twelve-hour-days, seven days a week in unsafe, traumatizing conditions.
Unfortunately, millions of men, women, and children all over the world still face dehumanizing conditions––far too often conditions they were trafficked into through force, fraud, or coercion.
Savhera exists as both a protest against and a response to this reality. Our company creates a dignified work environment for survivors of human trafficking.
