Lemongrass is a grassy tropical plant used in cooking and personal care, and lemongrass essential oil has many health benefits. Here are a few of our favorite ways to use organic lemongrass essential oil.
- Stress-Relieving Massage Oil: The properties found in lemongrass can help relieve stress and anxiety. You can make an easy, all-natural massage oil by adding a few drops of lemongrass essential oil to sweet almond oil. One study found that people who received a lemongrass oil massage once a week for three weeks had lower diastolic blood pressure than the control group.
- Zen Diffuser Recipe: Whether you’re relaxing at home or working from home, a little zen is never a bad idea. Add 5 drops of lemongrass and 5 drops of lavender to your diffuser for a calming concoction that will make your space smell like a spa!
- Dandruff-Fighting Hair Oil: The antibacterial properties naturally present in lemongrass can help eliminate the bacteria that cause dandruff. Add 2-3 drops of lemongrass essential oil to a tablespoon of your hair oil and massage into your scalp and rinse. Apply daily or as desired. Some of the best oils for your hair include argan oil, avocado oil, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, and jojoba oil. Lemongrass oil can also promote hair growth!
- Calming Bath: You deserve some soothing self-care! Add 12 drops of organic lemongrass essential oil to 1 teaspoon of carrier oil such as coconut, sweet, almond, or jojoba. Then add this mixture to a warm bath. The lemongrass will provide calming aromatherapy effects and the carrier oil will help moisturize your skin.
Note: we don’t recommend applying lemongrass essential oil directly to your skin. Always dilute it with a carrier oil such as coconut, sweet almond, or jojoba. Or mix with shea butter for a salve-like consistency.
