Store-bought cleaning products can not only make your expenses add up, but they can also add toxins or unwanted chemicals to your shelves. With this DIY shower cleaner recipe, you can get a cleaning scrub that works great and doesn’t contain any toxins or nasty ingredients. And it’s for way more than showers! Natural, inexpensive, and multi-purpose? What’s not to love? It’s also easy to make, with easy-to-find ingredients. Check out the recipe below:

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup Castile soap
  • 1 tablespoon water (use distilled water if you’re planning to store your cleaning scrub for more than a few days) or white vinegar
  • 5 drops each of lemon, peppermint, and eucalyptus essential oils for a bright and fresh scent. You can also include tea tree oil for antibacterial and fungus-fighting properties

Directions:

Mix all the ingredients together well. You should get a paste-like consistency. Store in an airtight container.

To use, spread the paste onto grimy tile, grout, tubs, or sinks. Let sit for 5-10 minutes. If you have some extra tough grime or stains, let it sit for 20 minutes! Then scrub with a sponge or microfiber cloth and rinse away.

You can also scoop a little bit into a toilet bowl and use a toilet brush to clean as you would with a normal toilet cleaner.
