Meditation: Optimism

Serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin are three of the "happiness hormones" in our brains. When these hormones are released, people feel happier. Lower levels can lead to feelings of hopelessness, anxiety, or depression.

The fact that the levels of these hormones can increase and decrease means that our happiness and our outlook on life can also ebb and flow.

The beauty of these biological reactions is that it creates a positive feedback loop. More happiness begets more happiness, allowing you to experience positivity more often, even in smaller and smaller things!

Here are simple things you can do today to increase production of these chemicals...and your happiness:

––Go outdoors

––Accomplish a task

––Exercise

––Give thanks

––Recall a fond memory

––Read a book

––Hug someone
